There is imminent strike in the Obafemi Awolowo University OAU , as fresh crisis threatens the institution.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Tuesday summoned the acting Vice Chancellor of OAU Prof. Anthony Elujoba, for questioning pertaining to financial issues.
A close source to the acting VC, who spoke on anonymity said that the summoning is in relation with the fund Elujoba, used in settling workers salaries in October .
Though the Federal government had earlier summoned Elujoba, for the same fund after a report of petition allegedly submitted by the former VC Prof. Omole and report claimed he was vindicated.
This was what led to workers under the collision of Non Academic Staff Union NASU and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU, OAU chapter shunned all work activities today, while enjoining students to join their course in solidarity for the vice chancellor.
“Until Tuesday, when the EFCC summoned the VC, OAU was peaceful, as academics activities were smoothly going” a student who prefers anonymity said.
A crisis overwhelmed OAU, was recently calmed with the appointment of Professor Anthony Elujoba, as the acting vice chancellor.
