Campus Editors Summit to hold in Ogun State

The body responsible for regulating activities of Campus Editors in Nigeria have come out with a statement on the National summit of all Nigerian Campus Editors set to hold in Tai Solarin University Ijebu-Ode.

A yearly event which is meant to discuss ways of improving journalism in the country through the campus is usually a two day event .

In a statement released and signed by the body under leadership of a four hundred level OAU Student, Lukmon Fasasi, the body promised to ensure that the event lives up to expectations, the Nigerian Guild of Editors President Funke Egbemode,  has been confirmed for the event amongst other personalities including the founder of Sahara Reporters; Omoyele Sowore, Editor of TheCable; Fisayo Soyombo, who recently won the International world free press prize among other heavyweights in the Nigeria Journalism space .

Below is an extract from the statement by the body signed by Lukmon Fasasi

“It is with great joy that the executive council of the National Association of Nigerian Campus Editors wish to inform all Campus Editors cum Journalists in all tertiary institutions in Nigeria that this year’s Campus Editors summit will be holding  at Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

This year’s Campus Editors summit is themed : “Future of Journalists”

ABOUT CAMPUS EDITORS SUMMIT. 

Campus Editors summit is a yearly event organized by the National Association of Nigerian Campus Editors to bring together all pen pushers from various citadels of learning in Nigeria. 

This will be the second edition organized by the body.

ABOUT THIS YEAR’S CAMPUS EDITORS SUMMIT.

Date: January 27th and 28th, 2017.

DAY 1(Jan. 27th, Arrival of guests, Pre-summit).

Day 2: Summit proper..

Venue : Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Keynote address to be delivered by Mrs Funke Egbemode, The President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.

The summit is billed to have two panel seasons :


First panel season will be hinged on the topic, “Campus Journalists and the future of the Nigerian Society”

The second Panel session will be hinged on the topic,” Campus as a training ground for journalists, the role of Editors”…

Bigwig journalists to headline the 2017 CES includes :

1. Omoyele Sowore, Founder, Sahara Reporters;


2 .Fisayo Soyombo, Editor of the Cable;

3. Wale Ajetumobi, The Nation’s newspaper CampusLife Editor;

4.  Temitope Popoola, Content Editor, Naij. Com;

5. Hannah Ojo, Journalist;

6. Dayo Aiyetan, Director for International Centre for Investigative reporting; and many more.

Just like the last edition of the summit, we are bringing together from all spheres campus Editors who have a huge role to play in the content of Journalism from our various citadels, the high point of the event is not just the panel session which will be expository but the bond that will be given during this two day event, as day one will be for arrival and opportunity to build contacts, definitely it’s not something you want to trade-off for anything else.

We hereby implore all Campus Journalists unions, campus journalists and editors in the country to make this event a point of call. 

 

It would be recalled that the last edition was held in University of Lagos under the Press club of the varsity journalists like Tunde Otunfodunrin, the online Editor, TheNation ; Rachel Bowoto, among others.
