A Nigerian monarch Oba Adedokun Abolarin Aroyinkeye I, in Osun State, has distinguished himself amongst royalties in Africa, as he provides totally free education for pupils in his kingdom and also teaches them in class.
A highly respected academia, Oba Abolarin holds three degrees from a reputable Nigerian tertiary institution – a law degree, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in International Relations, all from Obafemi Awolowo University.
Prior to his installation as the Orangun Oke – Ila in 2006, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, was a professional lawyer licensed to practice law in the Supreme Court of Nigeria, a principal partner of Dokun Abolarin & Co; a law firm based in Abuja. He ones worked at Tell Publications, Pacific Holdings, Peachtree Communications Ltd, Sportsmark International among other international firms as Executive secretary .
Oba Abolarin, believes government alone cannot solve Nigeria educational problems. He built a school – Abolarin College, Oke – Ila Orangun, in Osun State, after his installation .
He his passionate about Education, as he did not only built a school that provides free education for all, but also teaches in the class.
His focus has been on educating the poor. Students who attend Abolarin college, does not only enjoyed free quality academic experience, but learn in a condusive environment and live in a comfortable hostel.
In an exclusive chats with Lukmon Fasasi, Oba Abolarin, shared how far the school has achieved it aims and what is needed for continuity.
” Abolarin College, was established on the 24th day of September 2015 . I solicited funds from my friends. So far so good, but extremely rough . We have a comprehensive list of our benefactors.
On Staffing; He said “Our youth corpers are of immense service and few dedicated permanent staff. We need volunteers all over the world because, our aim is to be the best . You may Google Abolarin College, Oke-Ila Orangun to see for yourself ” Oba Abolarin said.
When asked about amount expended on the college so far, Oba Abolarin humbly said that huge amount has been spent already and we are planning to even spend more.
Meanwhile, a close ally of the king over told Lukmon Fasasi that over 50 million naira has been expended on the college since inception in 2015.
Presently total number of students studying and living under the roof of Abolarin college ranges between 70 and 100 as enrollment into new academic session is fast approaching.
