I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm…
I covered my ears from the annoying noise…it still found a way to sneak through…I had no choice now but to get up…I turned the annoying sh** off. Only to get knocked down on the bed by my 5year old screaming “mummy…mummy!!!” I then realised she was not on the bed with me…I am sure she went to pee…i potty trained her…she is a smart one

Oh yeah
Let me introduce myself
I alice and I am 22years
A single mother with a four year old…oh yeah! You knew that already
She is my only source of joy…

It seemed just like yesterday when I was 16 years…a good girl that kept to herself in school only to be ganged rape by her class mates…all she did was agree to hang out after school and they executed their evil plan…I could not tell my mom…because she thought I went to my friend’s place to study after school…

I decided to make it my little secret…until after 2 months… I became sick…I threw up every minute…got irritated easily…I thought it was fever and one afternoon mom was talking to me and I fainted…I woke up to find myself in the hospital…my mom was by my side crying…My dad was at my feet looking furious.
Unfortunately for me…I was pregnant…for???
That’s the question they kept asking…I don’t know…my dad was so ashamed of me…he sent me out of the house with some amount of money…enough to get a room apartment…I cried and begged but it fell on deaf ears
I grew up faster than I expected…I hated myself for being stupid…enough to get gang raped…I blamed myself…but I loved the bundle in me…as the day to the delivery came…I felt so alone…I read online about the process of pregnancy…I should have visited the clinic but I could not afford it…I was scared…I went to the midwife right opposite my house…I explained my predicament and she took pity on me…she helped me deliver and bath for my joy…

When Joy became 3 month old…I began to job hunt…I was only 17…but I lied about my age…I said I was 20…I started working as a cleaner…every morning and evening
That became my routine for a year…I sat for WAEC…I was able to save up some money…

Joy has been a good girl…I applied as a secretary with my result…I was given the job…after 6 months of working…I applied for part time in the university…

Now, few years later I am ready to go to work…Joy ready for school…and I can’t help but smile at how time flies…it seems just like yesterday

Hmmm…my experience changed me…time flew so fast…but I caught up with it.
