Ogendegbe Esther Damilola, a corp member serving in Ado-Odo/Ota, Ogun State with state code OG/16B/3115 Batch B stream 1 is giving back to the community
As part of her contributions to the making her society a better place for everyone and an advocate of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), Damilola. embarked on a personal community development project – an electric-powered Bore for the community of Itele, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ogun state.
According to her:
‘I was inspired to do this not because of the applause behind it, but so as not to be a kind of soldier come soldier go corp member. A footprint is needed. I wanted to give to Itele community what was needed for them to live a healthy life in which I saw clean water as a good one to give. Also, I wanted to let other incoming corp members to change their minds about service year.’
She also narrated the challenges she had to surmount to see that the project came to life;
‘Getting the funds wasn’t easy because so many people will tell you not to waste your time. I almost gave up on the project but was encouraged by a woman with her generosity. Her kindness towards the project made me continue with it. I wish we had more people of such generosity around. As a lady, I faced many advances for men but I was determined not to compromise myself because of funds. I realized one thing: whatever you dedicate your mind into and so far it is for the good of humanity, you will definitely get it. It may seem tough to get, but you will surely get it and not excluding conversing with the Almighty God because he will tell you what to do when all seem tough.’
