In this interview with OYA Magazine, Baaj Adebule talks about his role as ‘Adeze Tsenogu’ on MNET TV telenovela, ‘Hush, his relationship with veteran actor, RMD, his career and plans for the future. Enjoy!

In the spirit of valentine, our first question will be, how did you spend your valentine’s day?

Went for an interview, then a wedding, then home (watched movies and slept). Nothing special, just the way I like it.

What is your best moment so far on the set of HUSH?

I’d say the series of scenes we shot after the death of Adrianna. It was some really tough stuff & I had fun doing it

Okay do you have real feelings for Vina?

No, I don’t.

Have you been attracted to her in anyway?

No I don’t have feelings for her. But you can’t play Adze and Vina and not be attracted to Vina in one or the other.

What do you find most challenging about your role?

Trying to be loving, caring, romantic, naive & pure of heart because that’s Adze’s core & I am so not that kind of person.

What’s your relationship with RMD like?

We pretty cool, how do I put it? It is like in a Buddy/Uncle & Playful Nephew kinda way. I hope that makes sense? Yeah, kinda like that.

Describe your biggest moment as an actor?

It’s a combination of moments that are more or less the same and different at the same time. It’s the different feelings people get when they watch something I’ve done and they then tell me about it; because, that’s why I do it, to give them those feelings. They’re all feelings and emotions experienced by the audience whilst watching but experienced differently by different people.

What other projects are you working on?

I have the series 30minutes and 2 other movies dropping soon. I am currently prepping 2 films at the moment. I can’t say d name though – contract bound.

That’s fantastic. We sure can’t wait. Asides form all of these, what else should we expect from you this year?

A lot of great works both on TV & cinema; and working on producing my first web/TV Series as well. It’s going to be a great year

What is your best project so far as an actor?

I’m gonna have to say it’s #AMHush at the moment. One of the best TV shows in Africa with the best fans in the world.

What is your weirdest habit?

Playing Football Manager 2012. They’ve made allot of newer maybe better ones but I can’t leave FM12

What was the worst encounter you had with

a police officer?

They caught me passing oneway once. So I had to act like a broke graduate that has been looking for work for years. It worked

5 things that inspire you

Life, movies, the past, the stories and actions of some particular people, cartoon/animations

Cartoons? Hmm… How do cartoons inspire you?

Just like movies, the things the characters do, how they react and approach obstacles & challenges. It’s really great stuff

Your greatest fear

The future, not fulfilling my dreams

Have you ever had a crazy fan moment?

Yeah, but it’s always nice. Took my nephews out one time and a mum and her little boys lost it, one even fell on the floor.

What is your biggest dream role?

To do a Biopic of a really great person; like someone who you can say, in way saved the world. And an emotional Boxing Movie

Who is your favourite actor of all time?

That’s a long list can’t really pick one Marlon Brando, Meryl Streep, AlPacino, Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett etc…

In reality, what would you do if your girlfriend tells you she is pregnant?

I’d be ecstatic. I’m not with the ‘must marry because she’s pregnant’ idea. We’ll marry if and when we’re good and ready #AMHush

What is the most childish thing you still do?

Lick Milk, can’t help it.

If you could be a super villain, which would you be?

Joker, Voldemort or Negan. Yeah I know that’s a little much

One thing you can never be caught doing?

Hitting a woman or turning down Kilishi

What is your favourite song that is out now?

Nigerian – Runtown’s “Mad Over You”. It’s been months now, can’t escape still it. Foreign – Jon Bellion – ‘’Simple and Sweet’’

Who is the most important person in your life?

Mum

Who is your celebrity crush?

Haha, always this sha… *sigh* doesn’t have to be African right? Margot Robbie

Any last words to/for your fans?

You’re never going to be ready, the fear will never go away, very few people will support you and it never gets easy but YOU CAN DO IT
