The cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic organised by Simon Cowell to raise money for those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire hit the number one spot on iTunes few hours after it was released.
“Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in West London, the record industry came together to record a single for the victims of the disaster,” said Simon, who pulled the charity single together in just three days.
“Over 50 artists gave their time and support to make this happen.”
More than 50 stars including Craig David and Liam Payne, recorded Bridge Over Troubled Water to support victims’ families and survivors.
