Gombe State Environment Protection Agency have stated their reasons for removing posters and billboards belonging to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and that of President Mohammadu Buhari.
The General Manager of the agency, Nasiru Haruna, in a chat with journalists explained that the purpose was to discourage politicians exploiting the popularity of President Buhari to seek for political office. Haruna denied the allegations of the agency harassing members of the APC. He stressed that the agency was equally removing posters belonging to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“His Excellency (The Governor of Gombe State) has directed that any joint poster should be removed. He has respect for the President of Nigeria and Gombe is his constituency, but anybody who makes a joint poster and place it without authority should remove the poster,” he explained.
